Dartmouth

To continue with our anniversary celebrations, we naturally walked some more of the South West Coast Path. This time we headed to Dartmouth!

Like always, we've plotted our route here so you can see what we've done if you want to do the same! We started out in a National Trust Carpark that asked for a suggested donation of £2 and set off on our way. We walked down a small pathway that lead us to the cliffs overlooking far reaching views. We thought this walk was really well signposted and dotted about on many posts were map references.

We made our way to Dartmouth Castle where we had lunch. The route was a little tricky underfoot and steep in places so you really do need a decent pair of walking shoes on. There was a little cafe by the castle if you wanted to buy something, but as we packed out own we sat on the benches overlooking the castle and water.

As we've never been to Dartmouth together, we then tagged on a little bit at the end and made our way into the small town. If you have the opportunity to do so, we'd really recommend it. Lovely cobbled streets overlooking the busy harbour.

Of course we found a pub on route and had a cider in Platform 1. We really enjoyed the quirkyness of it. We dashed over the road and got an amazing ice cream from Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream and enjoyed our two scoops each as we started our way back.

We broke off from the path at the castle because it was a quicker route back, but equally as hilly. This takes you through fields, lanes and what looks like a working farm and you eventually get to the car!

We really enjoyed this walk and glad we can cross off more of the coastal path. To find the carpark, you will need to go down some narrow country roads, but there's plenty of passing spaces should you get stuck. Now onto planning our next walk!
